Solution for 11.9 On Your Own Section

Section 11.9 specified that you were to add a rectangle to the left end of the water main on the Chlorination Unit system page, label the rectangle "Booster Station", and configure it with a page change hotbox that allows users to navigate to the Booster Station system page.

The information below will help to guide you through this process.

1. Draw a Blue Rectangle to the Left of the Water Main

1.  Click the Rectangle button in the Configuration Toolbox. A crosshair attaches to the cursor.

2.  Position the cross hairs at the left of the water main at the bottom of the Chlorination Unit page.

3.  Click to begin the rectangle.

4.  Move the mouse until the rectangle is approximately two inches wide and one inch tall.

5.  Click to complete the rectangle. The Rectangle graphic editor dialog opens.

6.  Select the Fill option in the menu.

7.  Click on the select color button. The Select Color dialog opens.

8.  Select a medium to dark blue color.

9.  Click the OK button to close the Select Color dialog.

10. Select the Outline option in the menu. The outline options are displayed in the right of the window.

11. Set the Outline option to Advanced as shown:

12. Select black for the color, using the Set Color dialog

13. Select a width of 2 pixels.

14. Click the OK button to close the dialog

2. Label the Rectangle "Booster Station"

Once you have completed the rectangle, you may label it "Booster Station", indicating its eventual orientation.

 

1.  Click the Text button in the Configuration Toolbox. The sample text attaches to the cursor.

2.  Place the sample text on the rectangle drawn in the previous exercise.  The text graphic editor dialog opens.

3.  Select the Text option from the menu.

4.  Type "Booster Station" in the Text field.

5.  Press the Enter key on your keyboard.

6.  Select the Color option in the menu. Click on the Select Color button to open the Select Color dialog.

7.  Select white as the text color.

8.  Select the Fill option from the menu. Click on the Select Color button to open the Select Color dialog.

9.  Select the Transparent Brush checkbox.

10. Select the Font option from the menu.

11. Ensure that the Equipment Label font tag is selected.

12. Click the OK button to close the Text Style graphic editor.

3. Configure a Page Change Hotbox Around the Rectangle

Once you have labeled the rectangle, you must configure a page change hotbox around it so that it can be used to navigate to the Booster Station page.

 

1.  Click the Libraries button in the Configuration Toolbox.

2.  Select Standard Library in the Select Library list.

3.  Click the Draw button.

4.  Click the Page Hotbox button.  A sample page hotbox rectangle attaches to the cursor.

5.  Place the sample hotbox over the blue rectangle.  The Page Hotbox graphic editor opens.

6.  Select Booster Station from the Page Title drop-down list.

7.  Click the OK button to close the graphic editor.  

8.  Click the Close button to close the Select Library dialog.

9.  Click the Page Change Hotbox object to select it.

10. Click and drag its handles until the Page Change Hotbox completely outlines the rectangle.

To test the Page Change Hotbox, close the Configuration Toolbox or click the No Tool button to place the application in operator mode, and then click the Page Change Hotbox. The Booster Station system page should open.
