Alarms and Events

Throughout this chapter, we use the terms "alarms" and "events". An alarm is a warning to you that a something in the system requires your attention. This might be a pressure that is too high or a fluid level that is too low. An alarm is usually accompanied by a sound and a flashing red indicator.

An event is a record of something that has happened within your application. Each time you log on or perform a control action, an event is stored into the application's history. Events do not use sound and color indicators to signal that they've occurred.
