Disable Alarm or Alarm Disable Shortcut Menu Option

If your VTS application has been configured to do so, you are able to temporarily disable alarms. Disabling an alarm is different from acknowledging an alarm. When you disable an alarm, you prevent VTS from signaling to you that the associated equipment is in an alarm state. This feature is useful when a piece of equipment must be disconnected or needs to undergo maintenance. In these situations, you should disable the equipment's associated alarm(s) until the equipment is reconnected or until maintenance is complete.

Note: Information on the VTS alarm system can be found in The Alarm Page and Alarms.

You VTS developer may have configured your application to enable you to disable alarms in a variety of different ways. One of the most common is using the shortcut menu. The instructions below will assist you in disabling alarms using the equipment process object's shortcut menu.

Note: You can also disable and enable alarms from the Alarm page. See: Disabling and Enabling Alarms from the Alarm Page.

Note: The Disable Alarm shortcut menu option (which sometimes appears as the Alarm Disable shortcut menu option) is a toggle option; selecting it once disables the selected alarm, and selecting it a second time enables the selected alarm. You will know that the alarm is disabled when a checkmark (ü) appears beside it in the shortcut menu.
