Alarms and Events

Throughout this section, reference is made to "alarms" and "events". An alarm is a warning to you that a condition exists within your equipment to which you must attend. An example would be if the pressure, level, or temperature of a tank rose above or fell below normal levels. An alarm is usually accompanied by a sound and a flashing red indicator.

An event is more of an administrative notification of something happening within your application. An example is when an operator logs on, or performs a control action. Events do not use sound and color indicators to signal that they've occurred.
