Modify Notebook and Note Properties

The Historical Data Viewer page allows you to modify the properties of the note markers associated with a notebook. The properties of note markers that may be modified are:

      The color of the note markers (arrows and marker lines) for notes associated with a selected notebook

      The style and width of the marker line for notes associated with a selected notebook

      The appearance of the note markers associated with a selected notebook (as follows):

      You can choose to only display the arrows along the bottom of the x-axis

      You can choose to only display the vertical lines on the graph to indicate the presence of a note

      You can choose to display both the arrows and the vertical lines on the graph to indicate the presence of a note

      You can choose to display neither the arrows nor the vertical lines on the graph to indicate the presence of a note

      Whether or not the description for a selected notebook is displayed in the legend

 

The information below will assist you in modifying the properties of a notebook and its associated note markers.

Note: To modify the properties of pens plotting digital data, please refer to Modify Digital Pen Properties. To modify the properties of pens plotting analog data, please refer to Modify Analog Pen Properties.

To modify the properties of a notebook and its associated note markers:

1.  Select the notebook whose properties you wish to modify in the legend. (A rectangle will appear around the notebook to indicate that it has been selected.)

2.  Right-click the notebook. A shortcut menu similar to the example shown below is displayed.

1.  Click the Properties shortcut menu item as indicated above. The Pen Properties dialog opens similar to the example displayed below.

2.  Modify the properties for the selected notebook according to your requirements. (The table below will assist you in determining what the elements of the Pen Properties dialog do.)

3.  Click the OK button. The Pen Properties dialog will close, and the appearance of all note markers associated with this notebook will change according to the modifications you have made.

Notebook Pen Properties Element

Description

Color

The Color button opens the Select Color palette that enables you to select a new color in which you wish the note markers for the notes associated with this notebook to be displayed.

Style

The Style spinbox enables you to select a new line style in which you wish the marker lines for the notes associated with this notebook to be displayed. There are 5 available line styles from which to choose; a preview of these is displayed to the right of the spinbox.

Width

The Width spinbox enables you to select a new line width in which you wish the marker lines for the notes associated with this notebook to be displayed. There are 9 available line widths from which to choose; a preview of these is displayed to the right of the spinbox.

Show Pen

The Show Pen checkbox enables you to specify whether or not you wish the arrow marker for the notes associated with this notebook to be displayed.

If the Show Pen checkbox is selected, an arrow marker will be displayed along the x-axis for each note associated with this notebook.

If the Show Pen checkbox is not selected, no arrow marker will be displayed along the x-axis for the notes associated with this notebook.

Note: The shortcut menu for a selected notebook enables you to toggle the setting of the Show Pen checkbox between selected and not selected; simply select the notebook, right-click to open the shortcut menu, then select the Show Pen shortcut menu item to toggle it.

Show Marker Line

The Show Marker Line checkbox enables you to specify whether or not you wish a vertical marker line to be displayed on the graph for the notes associated with this notebook.

If the Show Marker Line checkbox is selected, a vertical marker line will be displayed on the graph to indicate the presence of a note associated with this notebook.

If the Show Marker Line checkbox is not selected, no vertical marker lines will be displayed on the graph to indicate the presence of a note associated with this notebook.

Note: The shortcut menu for a selected notebook enables you to toggle the setting of the Show Marker Line checkbox between selected and not selected; simply select the notebook, right-click to open the shortcut menu, then select the Show Marker Line shortcut menu item to toggle it.

Description

The Description checkbox enables you to specify whether or not you wish the description configured for the selected notebook to be displayed in the legend.

If the Description checkbox is selected, the description for the selected notebook will be displayed in the legend.

If the Description checkbox is not selected, the description for the selected notebook will not be displayed in the legend.

Note: The shortcut menu for a selected notebook enables you to toggle the setting of the Description checkbox between selected and not selected; simply select the notebook, right-click to open the shortcut menu, then select the Description shortcut menu item to toggle it.

OK

The OK button saves the modifications to the selected notebook's properties, and the appearance of the notes associated with the selected notebook will adjust accordingly.
