Outgoing Tag Data

As well as gathering incoming data from equipment, VTS enables you to transmit outgoing data and commands to the equipment using output tags. An operator can command VTS to close a valve by clicking a button. The digital output tag associated with the button sends a value of "0" or "close" to the I/O device driver tag. The I/O device driver tag passes the signal to the serial port tag, which relays the signal out through the serial port of your PC to the I/O device. Finally, the I/O device sends a signal to the valve to close.

In the case of incoming and outgoing data, the operator does not see the transfer of data from tag to tag. VTS enables you to easily and clearly determine the status and value of equipment processes by displaying the data graphically. The section that follows provides information on the interpretation of tag data.
