Live data is data that is being plotted as soon as it is read from the physical equipment composing your system. Historical data is data that has been logged or recorded in the past for a tag by a logger tag. The steps to plot either are the same except that to plot historical data you must also set the display to the date and time you wish to view.
To live data on the Historical Data Viewer page:
1. Open the Historical Data Viewer page.
2. Ensure the PlotView tab is selected so that the graph, rather than the grid-view table, is displayed.
3.
Click the Tag Selector button in the tool bar.
4. Select the tags whose data you wish to view in the Tag Selector dialog's tag selection list.
Filtering tools are available to help narrow the list of tags. See: Filter Available Tags for instructions, if required.
Tags may be selected either by double-clicking on them, or by using the Select Tag button.
5. Click the Plot button to close the Tag Selector dialog.
Live data for the selected tags will now be plotted on the graph.
6.
Adjust the duration selector so that you are viewing data from an appropriate
length of time.
The displayed time duration may be anything from 1 second to 5 years
To view historical data, continue with the following steps. Your goal is to adjust the display to show the historical time frame you are interested in.
7.
Click on the calendar button.
The calendar display opens. Today’s date will be circled in red.
8. Select the historical date you are interested in viewing.
The graph will now show the selected duration of time, beginning at midnight on the selected date.
The button at the far right of
the scroll bar will indicate that you are viewing historical rather than live
data:
9. Adjust the time scrollbar to show the time of day you are interested in viewing.
The scroll bar can be adjusted by clicking on the arrows at either end, or by dragging the scroll button.

Note: In order to view historical data for any tag, it must have an associated logger tag.
