Send Report Data as Attachment to an E-mail Message
When you select "Text File", "CSV File", "Formatted Excel XLS File", "Plain Excel XLS File", or "Access MDB File" as your report output type, you may also choose to e-mail the resulting report data to another user or group of users as an attachment to an e-mail message.
Note: In order for the e-mail function to operate correctly, an e-mail server must be specified for your system. Ask your VTS Developer for assistance in the event that an e-mail server has not been configured.
To transmit a copy of report data as an attachment to an e-mail message, follow the steps below.
1. Configure the report type, the tags whose data you wish included in the report, and the duration for the report. (If you need assistance in completing these tasks, please refer to Report Time Periods, and Generate a Report.)
2. Ensure that "Text File", "CSV File", "Formatted Excel XLS File", "Plain Excel XLS File", or "Access MDB File" is selected from the "Output Type" drop-down list (other report output types do not allow the transmission of reports as attachments to e-mail messages).
3. Select the "E-mail Report as Attachment" checkbox.
4. Click the "E-mail Settings" button. The "E-mail Settings" dialog opens.
5. Enter the e-mail address(es) for the recipient(s) in the "E-mail Recipients" field (e.g. "support@trihedral.com"). If you intend to transmit the report to multiple e-mail recipients, separate each e-mail address with a semi-colon (e.g. "support@trihedral.com; louellet@trihedral.com").
6. Enter a subject for your e-mail message in the "Subject" field.
7. Enter any text you wish to include with your e-mail message in the "Message" field.
8. Click the "OK" button to close the "E-mail Settings" dialog.
9. Click the "Run Report" button.
Note: If you are accessing the VTS reports page over the world wide web, you will not be able to utilize the e-mail report options, nor will you be able to utilize the ODBC Data Source report output option; however, all other report output options (as defined in Report Output Formats) will be accessible.
You may send reports formatted as text files in the body of an e-mail message. Information on doing so can be found in the preceding section (see Send Report Data in the Body of an E-mail Message).
