Adding and Editing Lexicon Words

The Add Lexicon Word and the Edit Lexicon Word dialogs are nearly identical. The Add Word dialog leaves the first field open for you to type the word you wish to add. In the Edit Word dialog, this field is pre-filled with the word your are editing.  enables you to add new words or edit existing words for the VTS Speech Lexicon.

Word The "Word" field enables you to enter the word or abbreviation as it is ordinarily spelled, and as it will be encountered by your PC (e.g. "ack").

Speak The "Speak" button associated with the "Word" field can be clicked to hear the text entered in the "Word" field as pronounced by your PC.

Sounds Like The "Sounds Like" field enables you to adjust the spelling of the text entered in the "Word" field phonetically so that it is typed the way it sounds when spoken (e.g. "acknowledge").

Speak The "Speak" button associated with the "Sounds Like" field can be clicked to hear the text entered in the "Sounds Like" field as pronounced by your PC.

Phoneme List The "Phoneme List" field displays the phoneme version of the word, based on the text you entered in the "Sounds Like" field. The "Regenerate" button to its right can be clicked to update the "Phoneme List" field in the event that you've modified the text in the "Sounds Like" field.

Regenerate The "Regenerate" button associated with the "Phoneme List" field can be clicked to update the phonemes generated in the "Phoneme List" field based on modifications made to the text in the "Sounds Like" field.

OK The "OK" button can be clicked to add the newly configured word or abbreviation to the VTS Speech Lexicon dialog.

Cancel The "Cancel" button discards any changes made and closes the "Edit Lexicon Word" dialog.
