Bitmaps Directory (VTS Layer Directory)

The Bitmaps directory within the VTS layer directory (C:\VTS\VTS\Bitmaps) is used to store all of the equipment graphics included with your VTS installation. These bitmaps are displayed in the "Select Image" dialog that is accessed using the "Image" tool in the configuration toolbox (or through the "Image Change" drawing method for tags).

The graphics within the Bitmaps directory are organized into groups, such as "Backgrounds", "Pumps", "Tanks", etc. The graphic files comprising each group are stored in separate subdirectories, each named logically to represent the group. In addition to these image group subdirectories, the Bitmaps directory contains image files that are used to represent each group in the "Select Image" dialog. (There is one image file to represent each image group, and this image file is displayed on the image group's button in the "Select Image" dialog.)

Detailed information on adding custom graphics to VTS can be found in "VTS Developer's Guide: Adding Custom Graphics to VTS".

Note: Any bitmaps added to the VTS layer's "Bitmaps" directory are accessible by all new standard applications; however, it is critical to note that when you install an upgrade to VTS, the VTS layer directory (e.g. "C:\VTS\VTS") and its "Bitmaps" subdirectory (e.g. "C:\VTS\VTS\Bitmaps") will be overwritten, and any custom images stored within will be lost. It is therefore recommended that you add any custom equipment graphics the "Bitmaps" directory within your application's directory or to your custom OEM layer directory so that your custom images are not overwritten during a VTS upgrade. Images stored in your application directory or your OEM directory will be accessible to your application and to any layers based upon it.
