Config.ini [SYSTEM] Section Variables for the Alarm Dialer System

The following list of variables belonging to the Config.ini configuration file’s [SYSTEM] section pertain to the VTScada Alarm Dialer system.

AnswerRings

Indicates the number of rings after which the Alarm Dialer system should answer an incoming call.

Default: AnswerRings = 1

AlphaNumericXFormScheme

Enables you to specify the password scheme to be obeyed by users of the Alarm Dialer system.

If set to 0 (default), passwords will be unmapped (i.e. only strictly numeric passwords will be accepted by the Alarm Dialer system (e.g. 98443)).

If set to 1, letters will be mapped to numbers as per ITU-T E.161 (i.e. the letters Q and Z map to the numbers 7 and 9 respectively).

If set to 2, letters will be mapped to numbers as per legacy scheme (i.e. the letters Q and Z map to the number 0).

If set to 3, both scheme 1 and scheme 2 above will be accepted (i.e. the letters Q and Z and the numbers 7 and 9 map to the number 0). Note: Please note that this scheme is less secure!

Note: By default, the call-out system has been configured to use alphanumeric passwords. If you change the mapping scheme from its default (i.e. if you change the value of AlphaNumericXFormScheme from 1 to 0, 2, or 3), user passwords will have to be re-entered into the system by telephone

Default: AlphaNumericXFormScheme = 1

CallOutDelay1

Indicates the amount of time (in seconds) that you wish the system to wait before notifying designated operators of unacknowledged priority 1 (critical) alarms.

Note: Please review the information on the CallOutPriority and MaxCallAlarmPriorityReported variables.

Default: CallOutDelay1 = 120

CallOutDelay2

Indicates the amount of time (in seconds) that you wish the system to wait before notifying designated operators of unacknowledged priority 2 (urgent) alarms.

Note: Please review the information on the CallOutPriority and MaxCallAlarmPriorityReported variables.

Default: CallOutDelay1 = 600

CallOutPriority

Indicates whether or not the VTScada Alarm Dialer system should contact operators when alarms have gone unacknowledged for a user-defined period of time. The CallOutPriority variable further permits you the option of selecting the priority of alarms of which designated operators should be notified.

If set to 0, the Alarm Dialer system is disabled.

If set to 1, the Alarm Dialer system will notify designated operators of only those alarms that have a priority of 1 (critical).

If set to 2, the Alarm Dialer system will notify designated operators of only those alarms that have a priority of 1 (critical), or 2 (urgent).

Note: Please review the information on the MaxCallAlarmPriorityReported variable.

Note: This variable correlates to the Dial-out Priority radio buttons on the Dialer Options dialog.

Default: CallOutPriority = 2

DialCancelOnAck

Indicates whether or not alarms whose condition has been acknowledged on site should be dialed out to operators.

If set to 0, then the call-out system will alert designated operators of alarm conditions, even once the alarm has been acknowledged by an on-site operator.

If set to 1 (default), then the call-out system will cancel call-outs to designated operators once an alarm has been acknowledged by an on-site operator.

Default: DialCancelOnAck = 1

DialCancelOnNormal

Indicates whether or not alarms whose condition has become normal should be dialed out to operators.

If set to 0, then the call-out system will continue to dial out to designated operators even once the condition that triggered an alarm has returned to normal.

If set to 1 (default), then the call-out system will cancel call-outs to designated operators once the condition that triggered the alarm has returned to normal.

Default: DialCancelOnNormal = 1

DialerLocation

Indicates the text to be spoken by the Alarm Dialer system when contacting designated operators by phone. (This variable correlates to the Spoken Name in Phone Greeting field on the Dialer Options dialog.)

Default: DialerLocation = The V T ScayDa System

DialerPort

Indicates the number of the serial port you wish the Alarm Dialer system to use to contact designated operators, or the name of the modem you wish the Alarm Dialer system to use to contact designated operators.

Note: If you choose to state the name of the modem you wish the Alarm Dialer system to use to contact designated operators, you must enter the name of the modem exactly as it appears in the Modem Properties dialog box of the Windows Control Panel. (The Modem Properties dialog is accessed using the Phone and Modem Options icon (accessed through the Control Panel in Windows 2000), or the Modems icon (accessed through the Control Panel in Windows NT).

(This variable correlates to the Alarm Dialer Modem drop-down list on the Dialer Options dialog.)

Default: DialerPort = Modem1

DialerVoice

Indicates that the voice used for the Alarm Dialer system should be chosen from the system Speech control panel.

Default: DialerVoice = -

DialogMoveTime

Time to wait before saving a dialog's new position

DialOnActive

Indicates whether or not active alarms should be dialed out to operators.

If set to 0, then the Alarm Dialer system will not notify designated operators of active alarm conditions.

If set to 1 (default), then the Alarm Dialer system will notify designated operators of active alarm conditions.

Default: DialOnActive = 1

DialOnClear

Indicates whether or not alarms whose condition has returned to normal on site should be dialed out to operators.

If set to 0 (default), then the Alarm Dialer system will not alert designated operators when an alarm has returned to normal.

If set to 1, then the Alarm Dialer system will call out to designated operators when an alarm has returned to normal.

Default: DialOnClear = 0

EchoPhoneThroughSpeaker

Allows you to hear the Alarm Dialer system’s calls through your PC speakers (in addition to the phone) so that others can hear the Alarm Dialer system annunciate alarms. (This setting is typically used for demonstration purposes and for debugging.)

Default: EchoPhoneThroughSpeaker = 0

EmailSubject

Indicates the text to be entered in the subject line of e-mails sent to designated operators by the Alarm Dialer system when alarms have gone unacknowledged for a user-defined period of time.

Default: EmailSubject = The VTScada System:

MaxCallAlarmPriorityReported

Enables you to configure the Alarm Dialer system to report lower alarms with priorities lower than 1 or 2 to operators once contact has been established.

Note: Please review the information on the CallOutPriority variable.

Default: MaxCallAlarmPriorityReported = 2

MaxPagerBaudRate

Indicates the maximum number of bits per second to be transmitted to the pagers of designated operators by the Alarm Dialer system.

Default: MaxPagerBaudRate = 2400

MenuRepeatMax

Indicates the number of additional times a voice menu will be repeated by the Alarm Dialer system before it hangs up if the user makes no keypad input from the phone. If MenuRepeatMax is set to 2, the menu will be heard three times (i.e. repeated twice).

Default: MenuRepeatMax = 3

PagerShowActiveCount

Indicates whether or not a count of active alarms should be displayed for designated operators whose selected contact method (configured for the Alarm Dialer system) is by pager.

If set to 0 (default), then the call-out system will transmit the number of active alarms to the pager of the responding designated operator.

If set to 1, then the call-out system will not transmit the number of active alarms to the pager of the responding designated operator.

Default: PagerShowActiveCount = 0

PhoneKeyFeedback

Indicates whether or not the pressed telephone keys should be spoken back to the user by the Alarm Dialer system.

If set to 0 (default), then the call-out system will not speak the pressed keys back to the user.

If set to 1, then the call-out system will speak the pressed keys back to the user.

Default: PhoneKeyFeedback = 0

PINRetries

Default: PINRetries = 3

PINTimeOut

Indicates the amount of time (in seconds) after which an operator’s PIN number will time out if the system is idle while the operator is responding to the VTScada Alarm Dialer system.

Default: PINTimeOut = 30

RepeatMenuTime

Indicates the delay (in seconds) between repeats of the menus by the Alarm Dialer system if the user makes no keypad input from the phone.

Default: RepeatMenuTime = 5

UseOldSpeechEngine

Enables you to command the ETI speech engine to run when sending or receiving an audio call (set UseOldSpeechEngine to 1), or to disable the ETI speech engine.

If set to 0, the old ETI speech engine will not be run when an audio call is sent or received, and an instance of SAPIWrap will not be run.

If set to 1, the old ETI speech engine will be run when an audio call is sent or received, and an instance of SAPIWrap will be run.

Note: Use of the ETI speech engine with the call-out system is now obsolete. This variable has been added for backwards compatibility.

Default: UseOldSpeechEngine = 0
