Get an Existing Script Application from a Networked PC

VTS enables you to access and download remote applications from other PCs on your network using the "Get from Server" operation. If you have a script application that has been configured as a remote application, you can retrieve a copy of it from the PC on which it resides. To do so, follow the steps below:

1.  Run VTS on the server PC where the application resides.

2.  Run VTS on the client PC where you wish to download the application. Follow the remaining steps below on the client PC.

3.  Click the VAM's Add New button. The Add New Application dialog opens.

4.  Click the "Get from Server" radio button.

5.  Click the OK button. The "Choose Server" dialog opens.

6.  Enter the name of the server PC where the application resides, or select it from the drop-down list.

7.  Click the OK button. The Find Servers dialog opens, displays the name of the server you entered in the "Choose Server" dialog, displays a count of the number of remote applications on the server, and identifies the number of applications that are running.

8.  Click the Inquire button. The Applications Available On dialog opens and displays the names, types, and status of the remote applications found on the selected workstation. (When an asterisk (*) is displayed next to an application name, it is an indication that your workstation already has that application.)

9.  Select the remote application you wish to retrieve from the list.

10. Click the Acquire button. You are returned to the VAM where the new application is now displayed in the Available Applications list.

When you acquire a remote application from a server, you become a client to that server. The section that follows discusses the files that are transferred to your PC when you acquire a remote application.
